Birth Doula
Practical, emotional and educational support before, during and after your birth. You only give birth to your child once lets make it amazing.
During labour and birth
I will be on call from 37 weeks until your babies arrival. In the unlikely event of your baby arriving early I will of course make every effort to be with you. Once your active labour begins I will join you and be by your side to support you and your birth partner and will be there until your baby arrives. Once your baby is here i will stay to help you settle, protecting your golden hour and support establishing early breastfeeding.
Postnatal support
I offer 2 postnatal visits to offer a space to celebrate and reflect on your birth experience. I can offer practical support to help you adjust to life with a baby and offer guidance and recommendations on postnatal support services should you need them.
I will be available via whatsapp for 6 weeks post birth to answer any questions or offer any advice so you feel confident you have my support.
Birth package £1800 with payment plans available.
If you are booking at late notice I can offer a reduced rate if I have availability please get in touch to find out more.
Personalised antenatal Support
I offer 4 antenatal sessions to allow us to connect and build a relationship. We will use the time guide you through the stages of labour, exploring pain relief, preparing your partner and discussing and creating your birth preferences. We will also cover postnatal planning and including essential information for once they are here feeding, bathing and changing nappies.
I will be available via whatsapp or on the phone throughout your pregnancy for any questions. I offer a free initial meeting so we can meet for a cup of tea to see if we are are the right match.
Emma provided exceptional support during my postnatal journey. The guidance and care made all the difference for my family and me.

Common Questions
What area do you cover?
My doula support covers families in Somerset and Wiltshire so within 1 hour of where I am based in Frome I cover Bath, Shepton Mallet, Westbury, Warminster, and Bruton. I also offer virtual doula support within the UK.
When should I book a doula?
I generally take bookings for birth and postnatal work well in advance because building a relationship is so important to both me and expectant parents. Some clients decide on a doula very last minute and book literally weeks, sometimes days, before they are due. If I’m available we can arrange to meet and if not then I’m very happy to recommend alternative doulas.
Does a doula support home birth?
Absolutely, I support home births within 1 hour of Frome.
How do I enquire to book you as my doula?
You can contact me through the website for scheduling a chat to discuss your specific needs.
Is there any research into if having a doula leads to better birth outcomes?
Yes, research has shown having a doula present at birth:
Shortens first-time labour by an average of 2 hours
Decreases the chance of a caesarean birth by 50%
Decreases the need for pain medication
Helps partners participate with confidence
Increases success in breastfeeding
Decreases risk of PND

Can you have a doula if you are having a C-section?
Yes a doula can support you if you are booked in for a C-section. The rules for entry into theatre can vary so please contact me to discuss how I can support you with positive C-sections. Having a postnatal doula if you end up with a c section is really valuable as you are limited physically with what you can do so an extra pair of hands is very helpful.
